Father's Day Treats ...

Working with my homemade gifts year as much as possible, I decided to make some toffee and fudge gifts for Father's Day, which is celebrated in the UK this weekend.  I hunted the internet and found a couple of recipes that looked easy enough to try.

Above, is the toffee that i made using this recipe ... it was easy to follow and made the most delicious toffee ... Andy and girls said it tasted like Thorntons!  I wrapped each toffee in a square of baking parchment so that they didn't stick together and popped them in a cello bag that i got from here.  I wanted a sentiment for the top of my bags and found one at Create with TLC from the Slogan Collection.

Next, i went on to Fudge making.  This recipe was for a fabulous Fudge ~ 5 minute fix, again it was really easy to follow and makes the most gorgeous fudge.  The sentiment for this was also from Create with TLC but was one of Paulette's fab freebies that she has so many of!

Now i just have to hide all of these sweeties from Rylee, who would eat it until it comes out of his ears given half the chance!

Soap Making ....

I'm not sure if all this is getting a little bit out of hand LOL ... most weekends my kitchen is turned into some sort of cottage industry with the latest craze being soap!  They do look pretty though!

to make these i used :~
Food Colouring
Cosmetic Grade Fragrance Oils ~ available here

To give the soaps as a gift i've made a hexagonal origami box made using a tutorial from here.  It's very easy to follow providing you concentrate on what its showing you.  To finish the box off i used some flowers and leaves from my stash and one of the fabulous word art collections from Create with TLC.  The one i used on this project is Sparkle and Shine and is $2.00 ... what a fab price that is!

Here is something else i've been working on when i've not been making cards, soap or chocolates!

I made this hexagonal origami box using a fab tutorial found here. Its very easy to follow and the results are fab ... well i think so anyhow LOL!

The bracelet and beads i got from Beadtime , a fab site with lots of choice ... too much choice at times ...
A similiar actual Pandora bracelet from their website retails at £150.00!

Hazelnut Rolo's .....

I thought it was about time i showed you some of the other things i've been doing just lately ... only because the cards i've made are for future Sketch Saturday Challenges and i'm not allowed to show them yet LOL!

I managed to make the most delicious chocolates for my Dad's birthday the end of May. He loves Galaxy chocolate, caramel and hazelnuts .... so what could be better than giving him my version of a "Hazelnut Rolo" .... i say Rolo, only because the chocolate mould i used reminds me of Rolo's!

For these i used ...

  • 1 Bar of Galaxy Chocolate ... melted
  • Whole Hazelnuts
  • Caramel ~ Recipe from here
  • 15 cell chocolate caramel cup mould ~ available here

These were so easy to make and looked fab IRL! The only problem i had was with the Galaxy chocolate ... it just doesn't seem to melt right, it has an awful consistency when melted and has a tendency to bloom (white mottled look) if you turn the heat up. I ended up having to set it in the fridge, but even then it still felt a little tacky to the touch. I didn't want to leave it in too long because of causing sugar bloom (similiar result to fat blooming).
Anyway, they were received gratefully and taste tested by many ... the photo only shows 16 but i actually made 32! LOL ....
