My Crochet Butterflies

Whilst the mojo was AWOL yesterday i gave card making a miss ... only cos anything i'd made would've ended up in the bin. I decided i wanted to have go at crocheting something other than flowers and after a couple of hours spent surfin' the net this is what i found. The most fantastic tutorial for crochet butterflies. Fairly easy for a beginner and a div lol!

I'm thinking the photo really doesn't do them justice, IRL they are soooo pretty. I just have to keep having a stroke. I couldn't wait to use one on a card .... see below.

Just Magnolia Week 2

So i've stopped being a div and have finally made a card for "Just Magnolia" using a Magnolia stamp!
Challenge 2 is a colour combo - PINK and GREEN - so anything goes as long as your creation is done with these colours and has a Magnolia image on. This weeks sponsor Jacobi Drachten and they are offering a fabulous prize of 6 cute clear stamps. As well as the 6 stamps, the winner of this weeks challenge will be a Guest Designer for May. The winner will be chosen by Random Generator next week.

Truly Scrumptious Challenge #5 & Colour Create #13

Oh i've been cooking on gas this morning. I was awake at 6.50am ... up with the birds ... wondering where my 19 year old daughter was for one thing ... the little ****, her. Kid's who'd have em? I sometimes wonder why i did ... Unfortunately, for us we appear to have chosen the wrong name for her, although i'm not taking responsibility for that cos i wanted to call her Naomi, Eloise was Andy's choice!

It seems every Eloise we have met or read about is an absolute nightmare. For instance in the book i'm reading at the moment has an Eloise in it "Eloise (who was Satan cunningly disguised as a four year old festooned in pink frills)." "Eloise sauntered up to Reuben and, with the casualness of a seasoned football hooligan, whacked him over the head with the plastic fairy wand she was carrying" "Eloise's proximity and the 'it wasn't me, I didn't do it' expression gave the game away" " Sorry, said Eloise, grinning and clearly not meaning it." Which is precisely what she did when she arrived home this morning after i sent a few choice words to her in a text message. She meant to let me know, but fell asleep! In all fairness she did text her Dad to say she might be out all night. Anyway, i was up the sun was shining and i have my June list of cards to make. 2 down ...11 or so to do. The majority of them are mens/boys cards ... which i find, like most of you, quite difficult to do.
I was hoping not for a repeat of yesterday, where my mojo escaped me and all i did for over an hour was sit and stare at an image i coloured!
This weeks challenge at Truly Scrumptious is hosted by Design Team member Michele and she has put together a fab sketch. Whimsy Stamps have a range of adorable child and animal images so it seemed appropriate that the theme for this challenge is to make a Card for a child. Remember, you need to follow the sketch AND the theme to be entered into the draw for the prize.

Week 13 at Colour Create is "Orange, Green and Brown" as you probably know orange and green are just a couple of the colours i love working with, so i couldn't wait to get started with this one. This weeks extra option is to make a card for a man/male/boy.

Doh!

I managed to make a couple more cards today before "the" crime was committed! I had a card to make for my Dad's birthday and a final one for my nursery commissions.

CS ~ stash. DP ~ RAK. Image ~ RAK (but as always i can't remember who sent it me) coloured with Whisper Markers. #1 ~ Hippie Chic Alpha Die. I actually love how this has turned out, even though i've used very little to make it.

CS ~ Tab, part of my birthday pressie. DP ~ Linda, again part of my birthday pressie (will add the photo later) Peel-off ~ stash. Image ~ Diane, coloured with Whisper Markers and Sakura Stardust pens.

Everything appeared to be going really well up until this point. I then decided i'd have a butchers at the Just Magnolia challenge. "Ooooh" i think, "pink and green ... another one of my fav colour combo's and the chance to use the lush papers that Diane sent me for my birthday" I knew exactly which stamp i wanted to use .... I had a 21st birthday card i needed to make for my friend Paula for her niece. I rummaged through my stamp drawer ... briefly in a panic, cos i couldn't find the stamp i wanted ... and there she is! I ink her up, colour her in, decide that i'll use the previous weeks sketch too, cos i didn't get chance last week with my birthday celebrations. I carefully stitch the papers and start gluing and sewing everything in place .... when out of the blue the realisation hits me .... i'm making a card for "Just Magnolia" .... using a ****** Rubber Romance stamp!!!!!!!! I mean, what a ****! Doh ... quite clearly the peroxide has taken affect and i am a "bimbo". Had even carried on making it, telling Andy what challenge it was for and still not realised my faux pas. Could this be my age ... or a i just stupid?!

The card looks lovely though ... don't it lol?! I think it turned out quite well. Infact, i love it.

Mojo Monday #83

Moving on to Mojo Monday, another fab sketch and another card completed.

Papertake Weekly Challenge ~ Dawny's Sketch #13

Where has this week gone?

Fortunately for me i had an unsuspected Rylee free day today ... unfortunately for Rylee he was ill! I took the opportunity to have some well earned craft time and to try and catch up with challenges.

I've had a productive day, but somewhere at sometime i've become a victim of crime! Whilst i wasn't looking someone stole my brain! I'm not sure how it happened, but its gone .... you'll know what i'm on about when i get round to posting the card later this evening!

On to this weeks PTW challenge ... its another fab sketch from Dawny P.

As you can see i made 2 cards using the sketch. One is for nursery and the other is for Rylee's little friend Lacey-Mae who is 2 in June. All DP's and CS ~ stash. Image ~ Diane (thanks honey, waving) coloured with Whisper Markers. Stitching ~ sewing machine. #2 ~ Hippie Chic Cuttlebug Alpha Die. Raffia ~ Vicki (mwah's) and flowers ~ stash.

Sketch Saturday #47

Yet another fandiddlytastic sketch from Sketch Saturday and one i shall definately be using again.

All CS & DP's ~ Left overs. Image ~ birthday pressie from Tab, coloured with Whisper Markers. Button, ribbon and peel-off ~ stash. Stitching ~ sewing machine.

Quick Makes For Nursery

I've been asked to make some more birthday cards for the children at nursery and these are the first 2 i've done.

For these cards i used 2 images from my gorgeous friend Vicki who sent me these among others as part of my birthday pressie. I coloured both images with Whisper Markers and used my new white pen that Tab another of my gorgeous, generous friends sent me for my birthday ... dunno if i put them in the right place lol. CS ~ left overs. DP's ~ RAK's but i dont recall who from. Ribbons, buttons, flowers and gems ~ stash.

The above photo is my birthday gift from Fae, Scott and Rylee. I loved the watches that Tab made for her Mum and Mother-in-law at Christmas and i wanted to have a go at it myself ... stay tuned to see my progress lol!

Happy Birthday To Me .....

Well the dreaded day has finally arrived and i have to be honest, i really dont feel as old as i am lol ... for some reason i had the strangest notion that things would get worse and change completely overnight. I've counted my crows feet and wrinkles and there doesn't appear to more than there was last night .... my saggy bits are still saggy, but no more so than yesterday. On the plus side .... I GOT PRESSIES! yayyyyy!BTW they didn't all buy me a birthday cake, although they should've lol. Have had a slice for my breakfast lol and i'm awaiting on my lunch, that DH is busy cooking as i type!
Thanks to all you lovely ladies for being so kind and generous, not only with your gifts but more importantly with your friendship!

Mojo Monday ~#81

I've missed the deadline to enter these into Mojo Monday's Contest, but thats what happens when your playing catch up! I'm not fussed about missing it cos it was a fab sketch to work with anyhow and helped me out with a quickie card for Fae .... yep another last minute phone call needing a card before 3 o'clock this afternoon lol!

I used ... CS ~ stash. DP's ~ left overs. Image ~ RAK from my buddy Tab, who keeps a constant supply of images coming through my letterbox and i love her soooo much for it and she's getting better at messenger chat's pmsl! I've coloured this gorgeous image in with Whisper Markers and added a little bit of bling in the form of glamour dust to her wings and the bottom of her top. Flowers, ribbon, pearls and gems ~ stash. Stitching ~ sewing machine. Sentiment ~ PC generated.
Well, I hope you're all having a wonderful day and that the weather where you are is good. I have my sheets out blowing on the line .... just looked, thats a lie ... they're hanging rather limply on the line ... but it was a good image, shame it didn't last long! So, i'm now off to have peanut butter sandwiches and watch a couple of episodes on One Tree Hill. Mwah's!

Papertake Weekly Challenge ~ Dawny's Sketch #12

So here goes another try at enlarging my photo's .... lol! Any help with this is gonna be gratefully recieved.

On to my card ... as you can see i've used Dawny P's fab sketch ... a little late i know, but then again better late than never! I just adore this little image, he's just too cute! CS ~ stash. DP's ~ more left overs. Sentiment ~ PC generated. Image ~ RAK coloured with Whisper Markers (and Rach i've been loosely using you copic's tutorial for my colouring, looks ok dont it!? lol whereas you use different colours, i have to use the same.) Eyelets ~ RAK from Linda. Charm and wire ~ local market habadashery stall. I have decorated the inside but with only one piece of paper that was a small left over bit so i didn't bother taking a photo, wasn't anything really to show lol!

Colour Create Challenge #11 & Sketch Saturday #46

I'm trying somthing different today and starting with a photo and not text, following Kim's advice. My photo's wont enlarge like most peoples do when you click on them and after a tutorial via Facebook from my VBFBF Diane and after trying to pick Tab's brains, she pointed me in the direction of Kim, who told me to leave my photo at the top of the page until she could find her old posts.
The above card is made using sketch #46 at Sketch Saturday and is sponsored by "Thread-bare". I've also combined the sketch with the colour challenge at Colour Create which is "chocolate, coffee and cream" by my fab friend Tab who was inspired by her lounge wallpaper!

Ok, so back to the card. CS ~ stash. DP's ~ left overs, some Summer Driggs and brown parcel paper. Image ~ RAK, coloured with Whisper Markers. Peel off ~ stash. Gems ~ stash. I've also decorated the inside with the paper that was left and have just got to find an appropriate verse and it's finished.

How Cool Is This .....

I'm thinking of getting one of these fitted at our house! I like the fact that its big enough to house 2 kids ... no need for them to be lonely! Look how much fun they're having too! Should anyone look this pleased at being banged up?

This photo was taken yesterday at Thomas land, Drayton Manor Park ... it's not that far from where we live. Rylee (on the left) had been invited by Luke (on the right) to help celebrate his 2nd birthday and it looks like they had an amazing time, especially in the prison ... that's why i'm thinking of having one fitted at home for when they visit together. For those of you that don't know Rylee is my 20 month old grandson and Luke my hubby's 2 year old nephew. They get on so well together, bless them ... although Rylee does like to boss Luke around and is constantly snatching Luke's soother out of his mouth ... which isn't a bad thing lol!

My First Attempt @ Wedding Stationary

I've recently started making my Brother-in-law's wedding invites after being inspired by Kerry who had made some stunning invites herself. I asked for some advice from her and she was kind enough to share her expertise with me. She is one talented lady.
The wedding colours are claret. I used Pink Petticoat papers to make the panels and on the front added a small red gem to either side on one of the flowers ... looks a bit like a dandelion head.

On the inside of the invite i've used the same panel but as you can see only down one side. I've also printed the same panel on the envelopes but haven't took a photo of that ... doh!

I am in the process of doing 45 day invites and 30 evening invites. They are all the same but with slightly different wording.

Magnolia vs Stampavie ~ Week 21

I don't always think about playing along with this challenge blog, plus at times some of these blogs do make me feel a little inferior. Anyhow, enough of my complex lol, this weeks challenge is a sketch and i just adore sketches .. where would i be without them?!

This has been created by Michelle and is sponsored by Stampavie.

I'm on to my May cards now ... I've managed to recycle some of the cards i'd sent people and they'd given back to me rather than throwing them away. I gotta do all i can during this current climate lol! This card i've made for my Dad from Rylee. I used this fab Magnolia image that Tab sent me (thanks hun, mwah) Edwin with chicken can be brought from here. I know its an Easter image, but i thought it would work well for a card for my Dad, who used to work on a farm when he was a young man. DP's ~ Basic Grey and are part of my blog candy win. Stitching ~ sewing machine. Image ~ coloured with Whisper Markers. Eyelets ~ RAK from Linda (thanks hun). Raffia ~ stash. Swirls ~ RAK from my VBFBF Diane.

I've decorated the inside with the left over paper.

Colour Create Challenge #10

This week's challenge has been created by Judy and is Duck Egg Blue and Rose.

DP's ~ Pink Petticoat. Vellum ~ stash. Ribbon ~ stash. Flowers ~ RAK from Diane, thanks honey. Image ~ RAK from Jill, thanks to you too honey. I coloured her with Whisper Markers and Sakura Glaze pens. Pearls ~ stash. Stitching ~ sewing machine.

I have left this card without a sentiment, cos i'm gonna put it in my virtually empty card box. I thought it was about time i made some spares so this is gonna be my first of many.

Cute Card Thursday ~ Challenge #54 & Friday Sketchers #46

This weeks Cute Card Thursday challenge is Citrus Colours ... We want to see fabulous bright creations this week using the colours hot pink, lime, lemon and orange! (You are allowed to use some or all of the colours!) This happens to be among one of my favourite colour combinations.

I decided to combine this challenge with the fab sketch at Friday Sketchers which is hosted by Heidi from Norway...

CS ~ Stash. DP's ~ left over's. Buttons ~ stash. Image ~ RAK from someone, but thanks who ever you are ... x Peel-off ~ stash. Stitching ~ sewing machine. Raffia ~ stash.

Again i decorated the inside with what was left.

Talking of citrus colours lol .... look what we did to Rylee this afternoon! Bless him, he was watching Ellie paint my toe nails ready for my girlie night tomorrow and wanted her to do his. So we decided that she would paint each toe nail a different colour. I have never seen that child sit so still and the look on his face was priceless ... he was amazed and so please and kept telling us his toes were "preeeeety" pmsl!

Not sure his Dad's gonna see the funny side of it, but never mind lol!

"Hmm ... which colour shall i have next?!"

Sketch & Stash Challenge #7

This weeks sketch is ....

and this is what i did with it ....

CS ~ stash. DP's ~ RAK i think from Jill (thanks mwah's). Stitching ~ sewing machine. Flowers ~ RAK from my VBFBF (thanks honey). Ribbon ~ stash. Peel-off ~stash. Image ~ also RAK from my VBFBF, coloured with Whisper Markers.

The inside has again been decorated with what is left.

Apparently, I've won Friday Sketchers :o can't wait to get my hands on that stash lol! That's really brightened my sh*tty week up ... all's well, that ends well, or so they say!
